How do you approach solving a problem?
Anonymous
I dont think I answered wrong, but did beat around the bush. "I will fist analyze the problem. Break it down into manageable pieces and assign it relevant people (If its a team based scenario). Will identify tougher sub-problems and give it more value/importance in terms of resources." After the interview, I thought about this question and found out that the following can be added: 1. Identify if the problem has already been solved. Look into "Known Error DataBase". That way, there is no need to re-invent the wheel. 2. Place a time limit on all sub problems and on the main problem itself. Have regular follow ups. 3. Brainstorm. Get fresh/ outside minds to look at the problem that can offer creative ideas/solutions. 4. Keep reading up on the issue in various media to understand it better.
