There is no "correct" answer to this question. What they want to hear (assuming this was asked to a salaried associate candidate) is that you are willing to work how ever many hours it takes to make them more money. I was a manager for many years and this is what I was always told to do when payroll became tight. Cut hours for hourly people and force salaried managers and assistants to work more in order to cover hourly shortages.
