Multi-task. Production bugs are handled according to priority. If it is a low priority, document and add to the backlog. Once fixed and tested/regression tested, roll it out in the next cycle. If it is a critical bug, then it has to be addressed asap and rolled out after process above. I guess I don't understand the question, because scenarios like you outlined happen pretty frequently. ;-)
