      Human Resources Trainee Interview

      Jan 25, 2013
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Bloomfield, MO
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Nestlé Purina U.S. (Bloomfield, MO) in Nov 2012

      Interview

I responded to a LinkedIn posting by applying for the Human Resource Management Trainee position on Nestle Purina's career site. 10 days later, I was contacted by a recruiter via e-mail to set up a phone interview. The phone screen lasted about 30 minutes, mostly explaining the trainee process and their expectations. I was then asked to describe my background, and was asked three fairly simple behavioral questions (tell me about a time you had to make a difficult decision, and what was the result..). Less than 2 weeks later, I was contacted by a current HR trainee ("ambassador") from the Bloomfield, MO plant (I had applied to the Iowa locations, which was okay and quickly explained to me). She helped me easily set up travel arrangements (hotel, and I was offered a flight and declined, opting for a rental car). Nestle is quite generous for reimbursing travel costs, and the accommodations in Missouri were excellent. A month after the ambassador contacted me is when the in-person interview took place. The actual on-site experience lasted two days, with the first being culture/benefits/plant tour/introductions, etc. I was one of eight candidates, and it was nice being able to interact with my "competition". The second day was solely 3 one-on-one interviews. Each interview lasted one hour, with four behavior based questions being asked; It wasn't overly difficult, but they probe the heck out of you, and you are asked not to repeat answers between interviewers. About two weeks later, I received a rejection e-mail from Nestle, which was fine, because Missouri is pretty lame.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Nestlé Purina U.S. (Saint Louis, MO) in Sep 2016

      Interview

I was contacted through LinkedIn and told to apply. I applied on their website, which was a pretty standard application. Just some general information about yourself along with your resume. I got an email to set up a phone interview about a month later. The person was very short with me. I had the phone interview and it lasted about 30-45 minutes. They told me about the program, asked me which location I would prefer to work at, and asked me a few behavioral questions. I didn't hear back for over a month. I didn't receive an offer to interview at a plant.

      Human Resources Trainee Interview

      Jan 19, 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Nestlé Purina U.S.

      Interview

-I applied online and received an email from a corporate recruiter the next day to set up a phone interview. The phone interview was a conversation about the program and my resume/work experience. It was about 30 minutes. -The following day I received a phone call from the Purina Plant in Clinton, IA. The woman informed me that I had been selected to fly out for a 2 day interview process. She told me Purina would cover all of my travel expenses - flight, rental car, hotel, food, etc. -A week later I began the 2 day interview process. This first day was very relaxed. It involved a tour of the plan, history/overview of the company, paperwork, meet & greets with HR manager, current trainees and the other candidates. There were three other candidates that were interviewing, so four of us total. That evening myself and the other candidates, as well as the current trainees went to dinner. The following day was 4 one hour interviews with various managers at the plant. The interviews were filled with discussing your previous work experience and about three behavioral questions per interview. I was exhausted by the end of the day. After the interviews we had lunch with all of the managers and then headed back to the hotel. -They had advised us that we would hear back from them in about two weeks, but the following day I received a phone call that I had been selected for the role. I was told I had about one month to respond to the offer. -Two weeks after I received the offer, they flew myself and my parents to the headquarters in St.Louis, MS. We were able to tour the headquarters and learn more about the trainee program. My parents loved that they got to be involved in the entire process.
