I answered that I believed in a compassionate approach, and respecting just how intimate the author-editor relationship can become, and how vulnerable or exposed a writer can feel when they share their work with another, let alone collaborate an edtor. I noted that I try to empathize with that position. Cultivating these relationships is a core job-duty, so I made sure to demonstrate that I could navigate those back-and-forths as a professional.
