I gave an overview of the company’s core business and its revenue. This didn't appease the interviewer, he started lecturing me on how I should prepare for an interview in the future. Well, I never faced any such interview where even after repeatedly asking about their business, which I am not familiar with, and one he never answered and shot this question. I started raising points on how shallow the JD which only had 4 bullet points. I started to share how my earlier interviews with other companies which are different from the current industry in the past went. I told the interviewer that I wouldn't appreciate the tone and the generalizing statements he was passing. He got offended he gave me an overview of their business and the issue they were facing. One can easily make out that these are internal to an organization and they were neither disclosed to me during the first round nor mentioned in the JD. Following which I gave solutions to the issues and discussed what could work. I was upfront that I myself had neither implemented nor worked on these initiatives. Theoretically those were sound solutions and the interviewer accepted and mentioned that he would recommend me to the next round. Which I did not believe at that time and it never happened. I thought ego had the best of him which is clearly not my loss as I have an offer in had already. Randstad: Being a recruitment company how can you put together a JD that’s laughable? How can your recruiters get carried away with emotions when interviewing? Through out the interview the body of the interviewer was not only condescending but also downright arrogant. Since when did the recruiters became subject matter experts in the field of Digital Marketing by Googling a couple of questions?
