Well, I really didn't WANT to work for Ross or anything retail, so I gave a BS answer and said that I shopped at Ross (but Amazon is more my cup of tea), liked the culture (ha!) and felt that I'd like to give retail a try (snicker, snicker!). Now, if that question was "Why do you want to work for Google?", for example, it would be a lot easier to answer, and I'd answer with complete honesty. =)
