Summary:
The Mainely Dog is seeking a dedicated Dog Handler to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to entertain, protect, and ensure the well-being of all dogs in our care. This includes engaging in activities such as playing ball, basic training exercises (sit/stay/come), and maintaining a clean and safe environment. The ideal candidate should thrive under pressure, possess strong problem-solving skills, and have a genuine passion for animals.

Responsibilities:

• Timely Attendance: Arrive punctually in uniform for scheduled shifts.
• Yard/Pen Management: Supervise and manage outdoor yards or indoor pens as directed.
• Engagement and Interaction: Provide constant play and interaction with the dogs to ensure a fun and enriching experience.
• Feeding and Care: Feed and water animals according to their specific dietary needs as well as provide food, outdoor enrichments as needed: peanut butter kongs, walks, puzzle toys, etc.
• Monitor: Monitor dogs for any signs of illness or distress and report any concerns to the appropriate personnel
• Sanitation: Maintain cleanliness by promptly cleaning up waste in yards/pens and ensuring kennels, floors, dishes, and trash are kept tidy.
• Flexibility: Be willing to undertake additional tasks or switch between areas as directed.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with team members to ensure the overall well-being of the dogs.

Requirements:

• Passion for Dogs: Provide care and support for animals in a professional and compassionate manner.
• Reliability: Ability to perform duties consistently and punctually.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Capacity to handle various situations and adapt to changing needs.
• Team Player: Collaborative mindset and willingness to work alongside others.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to engage in physical activities such as walking, bending, and lifting.
• Training Experience (Preferred): While not required, experience in dog training is advantageous.

Skills

• Previous experience in pet sitting, animal care, or veterinary assistant roles is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of animal handling techniques and safety protocols.
• Ability to handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments.
• Knowledge of pet grooming techniques is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with pet owners and team members.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
