Weld Manufacturing Engineer, 3rd Shift
Location: Davenport, IA
Schedule: 3rd Shift, 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM
Training Schedule: 1st shift for approximately 2 to 6 weeks
Duration: 12-month contract with potential for extension
Work Arrangement: 100% onsite
We are seeking a Weld Manufacturing Engineer to support third-shift fabrication and welding operations in Davenport, Iowa.
This is a hands-on production support position focused on keeping manufacturing operations running efficiently. The Weld Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with production operators, maintenance personnel and manufacturing support teams to troubleshoot welding equipment, robotic systems and production process issues.
There is no specific degree or minimum number of years of experience required. Candidates must have practical experience in a welding or fabrication manufacturing environment and be able to independently identify and resolve production problems.
Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering and technical support for third-shift fabrication and welding operations
- Support production operators, maintenance personnel and manufacturing staff
- Troubleshoot manual and automated welding processes
- Diagnose problems involving robotic welding systems and associated equipment
- Troubleshoot Manufacturing Execution System issues affecting production
- Identify and resolve equipment, process and production-line problems
- Support the implementation of new and existing manufacturing processes
- Train operators on welding processes, equipment and production procedures
- Develop and revise process documentation and work instructions
- Document production issues, corrective actions and process changes
- Track and follow up on work tickets and technical support requests
- Support manufacturing improvement and process development projects
- Provide weekend production support when required
Requirements:
- Experience in a welding, fabrication or metal manufacturing environment
- Experience supporting manual or robotic welding processes
- Exposure to robotic, automated or computer-controlled manufacturing equipment
- Ability to troubleshoot production equipment and manufacturing process issues
- Ability to independently identify problems and determine appropriate solutions
- Ability to work effectively with operators, maintenance technicians and engineering personnel
- Ability to document technical work and production issues
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Outlook
- Availability for overtime and Saturday or weekend coverage as production requires
- Ability to complete approximately 2 to 6 weeks of training on 1st shift
- Ability to wear required metatarsal safety shoes
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with robotic welding systems
- FANUC robotic equipment experience
- Experience with a Manufacturing Execution System, also known as an MES
- Experience with JDAAT, ShopVue, HydraX, FactoryLogix, MasterControl or a similar manufacturing system
- Robot programming or PLC programming experience
- Experience training production operators
- Experience developing manufacturing documentation or welding processes
Overtime and weekend work may increase during high-production periods. Candidates should be comfortable with overtime requirements that may occur in one-to-two-month periods based on production demand.
