Purchasing Manager
Paneltronics is a leader in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of high-quality electrical control panels, power distribution units, and instrument/switch panels. We are a vertically integrated manufacturer supporting OEM and aftermarket requirements for boats, specialty vehicles, trucks, industrial, and military equipment worldwide.
Position Summary
Paneltronics has an exciting opportunity for a results-driven Purchasing Manager to join our manufacturing team. Reporting directly to the Director of Manufacturing, you will be responsible for the strategic management of all procurement, supplier relations, inventory, and planning activities. Your primary mission will be to ensure the optimal flow of materials to meet the organization's production, delivery, quality, and cost-reduction goals.
Key Responsibilities
The Purchasing Manager will be a strategic leader, focused on maximizing efficiency and minimizing total cost across the supply chain.
Strategic Sourcing & Cost Management
- Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for raw materials and finished goods, leveraging market conditions (cost trends, allocation issues, etc.) and providing assessments on build vs. buy decisions.
- Establish and negotiate favorable supplier agreements to minimize the total cost of ownership (TCO) for the company.
- Lead cost reduction programs through proactive negotiation, blanket orders, and inventory strategies like make-and-hold.
- Collaborate with Engineering to review technical drawings and identify, vet, and qualify new sources of supply.
Supply Chain & Inventory Optimization
- Manage the entire planning and procurement cycle to ensure a steady, cost-effective flow of materials.
- Develop and maintain an effective MRP/supply chain schedule that optimizes material movement, maximizes asset turnover, and increases inventory turns.
- Monitor and maintain supplier commitment to production order due dates, and analyze supply/demand to proactively identify risks.
- Manage inventory accuracy across the entire supply chain, establishing controls and processes to achieve a company goal of 95% inventory accuracy.
- Review and adjust safety stock and re-order quantity levels for raw materials and finished goods to meet customer expectations.
- Oversee inventory, the stockroom, and receiving processes, and manage and coordinate physical inventories.
Supplier Quality & Compliance
- Work with the Production Department to monitor supplier performance, issue Supplier Corrective Actions (SCARs) as needed, and drive quality improvement.
- Manage the disposition of non-conforming products from suppliers and scrap.
- Ensure strict adherence to all company purchasing policies and procedures.
Team Leadership & System Management
- Define, establish, and track quality metrics for the purchasing department to measure performance and drive continuous improvement.
- Maintain the ERP/MRP system with accurate, up-to-date information, including vendor part numbers, lead times, costs, and stocking levels.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate the purchasing team to meet departmental and company goals.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience
- 5+ years of professional experience in purchasing, materials procurement, and inventory management.
- 5+ years of progressive management and direct personnel supervision experience.
- 3+ years of professional experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience successfully leading and executing significant cost reduction initiatives.
- Strong working experience with major ERP/MRP system (e.g., Visual Manufacturing, Made2Manage, Infor, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Acumatica).
Education & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Operations, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- Exceptional negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- High proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and especially Excel).
- Demonstrated ability to be a pro-active, results-driven, and process-oriented leader.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) is required.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
