About the Role
Corsec is seeking an analytical and detail-oriented Entropy Analyst to join our growing Security Certifications team. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong background in statistical mathematics, data analysis, and mathematical modeling who are interested in applying their expertise to cybersecurity and cryptographic validation.
As an Entropy Analyst, you will evaluate hardware and software entropy sources, develop mathematical models to assess randomness, and help clients meet security certification requirements. You will work closely with product vendors, testing laboratories, and government stakeholders to analyze data, identify compliance gaps, and prepare technical documentation supporting industry-recognized security standards.
Job Responsibilities
- Analyze hardware and software entropy sources against applicable security certification standards to identify and document compliance gaps.
- Evaluate entropy data and develop heuristic or statistical models to characterize and validate the randomness of collected data.
- Perform statistical analysis and interpret results to support cryptographic security assessments.
- Assist product vendors with collecting entropy data using specialized tools and methodologies.
- Prepare clear, well-organized technical reports documenting analyses, findings, and recommendations.
- Collaborate with clients, accredited testing laboratories, and government agencies to resolve technical questions, documentation comments, and certification issues.
- Create charts, graphs, and other visualizations to effectively communicate data analysis results.
- Stay current on evolving cryptographic standards and entropy analysis methodologies.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Statistical Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong foundation in statistical mathematics and probability theory.
- Experience developing mathematical or statistical models from real-world data.
- Familiarity with software development concepts and data analysis techniques.
- Ability to analyze complex datasets and communicate technical findings effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience creating charts, graphs, and visual representations of data for technical reporting.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Understanding of entropy and the theory of randomness.
- Familiarity with NIST SP 800-90B and entropy source validation requirements.
- Knowledge of processor architecture and hardware entropy sources.
- Experience working in Linux environments and familiarity with Linux shell commands.
- Exposure to cryptography, cybersecurity, or security certification programs (such as FIPS 140-3 or Common Criteria) is a plus.
Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
