QA/QC Specialist (GIS/Utility) – Hybrid

Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 Days Onsite, 2 Days Remote)

Pay Rate: $42.00–$47.00 per hour

About the Opportunity
We are seeking a detail-oriented QA/QC Specialist to support a growing Electric eGIS team working on a large-scale GIS mapping modernization initiative. This role will focus on validating migrated GIS data as legacy mapping systems transition to a modern enterprise GIS platform.
This is an excellent opportunity for a GIS professional with utility industry experience who enjoys data validation, quality assurance, and testing within an enterprise GIS environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Validate the accuracy and integrity of legacy mapping data migrated into the ESRI GIS environment.
- Perform spatial queries, spatial analysis, and quality control reviews of GIS data.
- Review land base symmetry, structure connectivity, and cable connectivity to ensure data accuracy.
- Verify attribute data for both linear and point features related to electric and gas infrastructure.
- Update map symbology and develop symbology solutions when needed.
- Execute system testing to validate functionality of newly developed mapping products.
- Maintain organized tracking spreadsheets and databases using Microsoft Excel.
- Prioritize workload and manage project timelines to ensure timely completion of data review activities.
- Support additional eGIS initiatives and special projects as assigned.
- Review test plans, test scripts, and project documentation to ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Provide constructive feedback to improve testing documentation and approve test plans when appropriate.
- Utilize Azure DevOps or similar testing tools to manage test planning, execution, documentation, and reporting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience using ESRI ArcMap.
- Demonstrated knowledge of ESRI GIS, including:
- MXD creation and management
- Spatial queries
- Spatial analysis
- Experience working within a utility environment (electric and/or gas).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work independently and complete assignments with minimal supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using Azure DevOps or other software testing tools.
- Previous experience supporting GIS quality assurance or enterprise mapping implementations.
- Familiarity with utility network mapping environments.
