Job Overview
Southeast Disability Advocates is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Social Security Disability Legal Assistant / Case Manager to manage Social Security Disability claims from initial application through the appeals process. This role serves as the primary point of contact for clients, the Social Security Administration (SSA), and State Disability Determination Services (DDS).
The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, and comfortable managing multiple cases while providing exceptional client service.
Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of Social Security Disability claims from application through hearing request
- Collect and review work history, medical records, and supporting documentation
- Prepare, submit, and track disability applications and appeals with SSA and DDS
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding application status and required information
- Explain claim decisions, denials, and next steps clearly and empathetically
- Respond to requests from SSA, DDS, and other agencies in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate and detailed case notes in the firm’s case management system
- Build strong, professional relationships with clients through consistent follow-up and advocacy
Qualifications
- Strong interest in learning Social Security Disability law and procedures
- Compassionate, client-focused approach with a service and advocacy mindset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and cases efficiently
- Prior legal, case management, or disability claims experience is a plus (but not required)

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
