General Manager

Position Summary
The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and day-to-day operations of the company. This position provides direction and support to a three-member outside sales team, the Office Manager, and staff while helping ensure the business operates efficiently, profitably, and with a strong focus on customer service.
The General Manager will work closely with ownership to execute business objectives, grow sales, maintain strong customer relationships, improve operational processes, and ensure the company remains a reliable and competitive supplier of hydraulic fluid conveyance products, and related products and services.
Because this is a small business, the successful candidate must be comfortable being both a strategic leader and a hands-on manager who is willing to understand and assist with the details of the business when needed.
Essential Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
- Provide leadership, direction, and accountability for the company’s day-to-day operations.
- Directly supervise and support the three-member outside sales team, Office Manager and staff
- Establish clear expectations, goals, and performance standards.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and a customer-focused culture.
- Address employee performance, workplace concerns, and personnel issues in a timely and professional manner.
Sales & Business Development
- Lead and support the outside sales team in achieving sales and profitability goals.
- Establish sales targets, monitor performance, and track key sales activities.
- Assist sales staff with customer development, major opportunities, pricing, and problem resolution.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers and strategic accounts.
- Identify opportunities to expand the customer base and increase sales of fluid conveyance products, fittings, and related products.
- Participate in customer visits, sales calls, and business development activities as needed.
- Monitor market conditions, competitors, and customer needs.
- Ensure sales efforts align with company profitability objectives.
Operations & Customer Service
- Oversee the efficient daily operation of the business, including sales, customer service, order processing, purchasing coordination, and administrative functions.
- Work with employees to ensure customer orders are handled accurately and in a timely manner.
- Help resolve customer issues, quality concerns, delivery problems, and other escalated matters.
- Identify operational inefficiencies and implement practical improvements.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors as needed to support customer and business requirements.
- Maintain awareness of inventory needs, purchasing requirements, and product availability.
- Ensure company processes support accurate quoting, order entry, production coordination, and delivery.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, management, sales, operations, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
- 5+ years of progressive management, sales leadership, operations, or general business experience.
- Experience managing and developing sales personnel.
- Industrial, manufacturing, distribution, hydraulics, fluid power, mechanical, or related industry experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage people, priorities, and business performance.
- Strong business judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite and common business software.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer locations as needed.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation and benefits will be commensurate with experience and may include:

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
