A Top 50 public accounting firm based in Columbus, OH is hiring a Tax Partner to join its leadership team. This opening is the result of planned retirements within the practice, and the incoming partner will inherit an established client book rather than being required to bring existing business. The role carries full engagement ownership across a tax practice group, with responsibility for client relationships, staff development, business development, and technical review and sign-off.
Schedule
Full-time, on-site in Columbus, OH. This is a client-facing leadership role with regular travel to client offices as needed. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates outside the Columbus area.
Compensation
$175,000 to $250,000 base salary, plus performance bonuses. Company-paid benefits are included (see details below).
What You'll Do
As Tax Partner, you will hold full accountability for all client engagements, staffing assignments, and workflow within your practice group. This includes reviewing and signing all work product before it is delivered to clients, ensuring the highest standard of technical and professional quality. You will analyze financial data, draw sound conclusions, and make judgment calls that reflect well on both the client and the firm. You will maintain open communication across the firm to ensure that clients are served effectively and that staff are deployed in the most productive manner.
People leadership is a core part of this role. You will oversee all staff assigned to your group, including the semi-annual performance review process. You will mentor team members at all levels, including seniors, supervisors, and managers, and bring staff along to prospective client meetings to support their development. You will also participate in firm-wide training and recruiting activities.
On the client relationship side, you will manage billing, monitor receivables, and develop policies and procedures that improve productivity without compromising team engagement. You will maintain and deepen existing client relationships through regular outreach, including scheduled calls and in-person meetings, and you will actively pursue new client relationships and referral sources. You will build in-depth knowledge of key client industries, join relevant professional and industry organizations, and represent the firm at community, civic, and business functions. You will also develop and maintain referral relationships with bankers, attorneys, and other professional contacts, and contribute to firm proposals and promotional materials as needed.
