Our client is opening a new state-of-the-art pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Branchburg, New Jersey. The site will produce sterile injectable IV bag specialty products designed to support hospitals, improve workflow, reduce waste, and help address critical needs in patient care.

This is a hands-on opportunity for an experienced Facility Mechanic to join a new sterile manufacturing site during an important startup phase. You will help install, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the facility and utility systems that keep the operation running safely, reliably, and in compliance with GMP requirements.

This role would suit someone with experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, cleanroom, or other regulated manufacturing environments who enjoys practical troubleshooting, takes pride in safe and accurate work, and wants to be part of a growing site from the beginning.

What you’ll be working on

You will support the operation and maintenance of key facility and utility systems, including:

• HVAC systems supporting cleanroom environments
• Compressed air and vacuum systems
• Clean utilities, including WFI, purified water, and clean steam
• Boilers, chillers, and temperature control units
• Effluent water treatment equipment
• Autoclaves and other pharmaceutical manufacturing support equipment
• Building management systems, alarms, and related controls

What you’ll do

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on facility infrastructure and critical utilities
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, control, and utility system issues
• Support equipment setup, calibration, qualification, and maintenance planning
• Complete routine rounds and inspections to monitor system performance
• Work safely in classified cleanroom environments while following gowning and contamination control procedures
• Document maintenance activities accurately in logs, work orders, and CMMS
• Support Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams with investigations, deviations, and continuous improvement activities
• Follow safety procedures including lockout/tagout, confined space practices, and PPE requirements
• Maintain tools, spare parts, and maintenance supplies in an organized, audit-ready condition
• Support plant startup, commissioning, training, and regulatory inspection readiness
• Provide technical support to production when needed during busy periods or limited staffing

What we’re looking for

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3+ years of experience as a mechanic, maintenance technician, facility technician, or utilities technician in pharmaceutical, biotech, GMP, cleanroom, or another regulated manufacturing environment
• At least 2 years of Pharmaceutical GMP experience
• At least 1 year of autoclave experience
• Strong hands-on troubleshooting skills across mechanical systems, electrical systems, and controls
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and SOPs
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and/or CMMS use
• English language proficiency
• Ability to commute to Branchburg, NJ 08853
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or off-shifts when required during production, commissioning, or startup activities

Preferred:

• Technical certificate or Associate’s degree in a mechanical or technical field
• Experience with cleanroom protocols and contamination control
• Familiarity with BMS and alarm monitoring systems
• Electrical and controls experience with automated systems, inspection equipment, robotics, or camera systems
• Understanding of cGMP, OSHA, FDA, and EU Annex 1 requirements

Work environment

This is a hands-on role in a regulated sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. The role involves frequent gowning, standing, work in classified or confined areas, use of ladders, lifts, hand tools, and power tools, and occasional lifting of heavy tools or parts.

The site is in a fast-paced startup phase, so adaptability, initiative, teamwork, and a strong safety mindset are important.

Pay: $37.00 - $41.00 per hour
