Job Title: Urgent Care Medical Coder Department: Medical Billing and Coding Location: Remote work Job Type: Full-Time Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Urgent Care Medical Coder to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately coding medical procedures and diagnoses for urgent care services, ensuring compliance with all coding guidelines and payer requirements to optimize reimbursement. Roles and Responsibilities: Assign accurate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes to diagnoses and procedures for urgent care encounters. Review clinical documentation to ensure coding reflects services provided. Ensure compliance with federal coding regulations and guidelines (e.g., CMS, HIPAA). Query providers when documentation is unclear or incomplete. Work closely with physicians, nurses, and billing teams to resolve coding-related issues. Monitor denials and rejections related to coding and assist in resolution. Stay updated with changes in coding guidelines, payer policies, and regulatory requirements. Participate in audits and quality reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance. Maintain confidentiality of all patient records and information. Basic Knowledge and Skills Required: Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding systems. Understanding of urgent care procedures, common diagnoses, and documentation standards. Familiarity with E/M (Evaluation and Management) coding. Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and coding software. Knowledge of payer-specific coding requirements and medical billing workflows. Attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to work independently. Good communication skills for provider and team interactions. *Minimum 5 years of medical coding experience in an urgent care, outpatient, or emergency setting preferred*
