Ambulance Operations Manager
We are seeking an experienced Ambulance Operations Manager to oversee and direct the daily operations of our Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance services. The successful candidate will provide leadership, operational oversight, regulatory compliance management, personnel supervision, fleet administration, quality improvement, and strategic planning for a growing ambulance transportation company.
This position serves as a key member of executive management and is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, county, and local regulations governing ambulance operations.
IMPORTANT QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT
DO NOT APPLY UNLESS YOU HAVE A MINIMUM OF FIVE (5) YEARS OF INCREASINGLY RESPONSIBLE EXPERIENCE IN THE OPERATION OR MANAGEMENT OF A BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS) OR ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT (ALS) AMBULANCE SERVICE.
Applicants must be able to clearly demonstrate progressive leadership responsibilities within an ambulance transportation organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct daily operations of BLS ambulance services.
- Supervise field personnel, dispatch staff, supervisors, and administrative employees.
- Develop and implement operational policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with EMS Agency regulations, state laws, and licensing requirements.
- Oversee fleet management, maintenance programs, and vehicle readiness.
- Manage staffing, scheduling, deployment plans, and resource allocation.
- Conduct quality assurance and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
- Monitor operational performance metrics and response standards.
- Assist with budget preparation, cost control, and financial planning.
- Coordinate with hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, healthcare providers, and government agencies.
- Lead employee recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and retention initiatives.
- Maintain readiness for inspections, audits, and regulatory reviews.
- Investigate operational incidents and implement corrective action plans.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in the operation or management of a Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance service.
- Demonstrated supervisory and management experience within an ambulance transportation organization.
- Thorough knowledge of ambulance operations, EMS systems, and healthcare transportation services.
- Experience managing personnel, budgets, schedules, and operational resources.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements affecting ambulance providers.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with healthcare partners, regulatory agencies, and community stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- EMT or Paramedic certification (current or previous).
- Experience serving as an Operations Manager, Director of Operations, General Manager, Regional Manager, or equivalent leadership role.
- Experience with ambulance licensing, accreditation, quality management, and regulatory compliance programs.
- Knowledge of California EMS regulations and local EMS Agency requirements.

Pay: $75,671.75 - $90,475.66 per year
