We are currently seeking a motivated and service-oriented professional to join our team as a Loss Control Representative Trainee in our Omaha, NE office.
Position Overview The Loss Control Representative Trainee participates in a structured development program within the Risk Management Department designed to build expertise in risk assessment, loss prevention, safety education, and risk management consulting. This role prepares individuals to independently conduct safety inspections, identify potential exposures, analyze loss trends, present educational programs, and provide recommendations that help Catholic Mutual members create safer environments and reduce risk.
Key Responsibilities • Participate in a comprehensive training program focused on risk management principles, inspection techniques, and Catholic Mutual services • Learn to conduct safety inspections at churches, schools, and other member locations, progressing toward independent inspections and reporting • Assist with and eventually present safety seminars, workshops, and educational programs for members • Review Arch/Diocesan Self-Inspection Reports and Risk Management Reports from member locations • Distribute and explain safety information, risk management resources, and loss prevention materials to members • Assist in preparing annual risk analysis reports for assigned Archdioceses and Dioceses • Analyze loss history, claim trends, and exposure information to identify risks and recommend corrective actions • Collaborate with Loss Control Representatives, management, and administrative staff to develop and distribute risk management materials and communications • Review risk management resources, regulations, and technical materials to develop subject matter expertise • Learn to interpret regulatory standards and best practices, including OSHA and NFPA requirements • Participate in team meetings, member meetings, training sessions, and departmental projects • Prepare written reports and recommendations documenting inspection findings and risk reduction opportunities
Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent education, experience, or demonstrated ability to learn new skills will be considered • Strong interest in risk management, loss prevention, safety, insurance, or a related field • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with members and colleagues • Strong analytical, observational, and problem-solving abilities • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications • Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively • Ability to learn and apply technical standards, regulations, and risk management principles • Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills
