About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support the development of advanced outdoor electronic products used in communication systems. This role is focused on full mechanical product ownership and is ideal for someone with strong experience in Creo, Windchill, top-down design, enclosure design, and injection molded parts.
The right candidate will have experience designing outdoor-rated electronic devices that have shipped at high volumes and will be comfortable working across the full product lifecycle, from concept development and prototyping through testing, qualification, and manufacturing release.
Key Responsibilities
- Own all aspects of assigned mechanical product design from concept through production release
- Develop and evaluate system-level mechanical design solutions for reliability, cost, and ease of installation
- Create detailed Creo part, assembly, and drawing models
- Manage product data and design documentation using Windchill or similar PDM tools
- Apply top-down design methodology to support structured product development
- Design and refine electronic enclosures for outdoor use, including ingress protection and environmental durability
- Develop prototypes and test methods to validate performance across environments
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including electrical, RF, antenna, and manufacturing
- Support detailed design release for volume tooling and manufacturing
- Help balance worldwide deployment requirements, product configurations, performance, and cost
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 5–8 years of industry experience in a mechanical engineering role with system or product ownership
- Strong recent experience with Creo for part, assembly, and drawing creation
- Experience with Windchill or similar PDM tools
- Strong understanding of top-down design methodology
- Experience with enclosure design
- Experience designing for plastic injection molding
- Strong GD&T skills and proficiency with tolerance analysis
- Experience designing, building, and testing prototypes
- Experience with electromechanical systems
- Experience designing for ingress protection, including IP66
- Familiarity with sealants, adhesives, and sealing methods
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with fixture design
- Experience with design for prototyping
- Experience supporting high-volume manufactured products
- Experience with outdoor-rated electronic devices
- Experience working in fast-paced product development environments
- Experience in aerospace, satellite, communications hardware, or other highly regulated product environments
Pay: $125,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
