The Elizabeth Coalition to House the Homeless (ECHH) seeks a Fund Development Manager. Celebrating its 45th anniversary, the mission of ECHH is to serve the immediate needs of the unhoused and housing insecure in Union County, NJ. We strive to prevent homelessness, and to empower unhoused households with the tools to transition to permanent housing.
The Fund Development Manager is a strategic and hands-on leader who will oversee all fundraising, donor engagement, and communications activities at ECHH, with a particular focus on identification and stewardship of major gift prospects. In partnership with the CEO, this role drives philanthropic growth, cultivates donor relationships, and elevates the organization’s visibility. The Manager leads the development team, collaborates with and inspires the Board’s Fund Development Committee and event committees to advance ECHH’s mission to end homelessness.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of individual giving
● Develop and track a portfolio of leadership donors, overseeing cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
● Engage in regular processes to identify new donor prospects and facilitate meetings between those individuals and leadership
● Work one-on-one with the Board Members and senior leadership team to equip them to be effective ambassadors for ECHH
● Ensure that connections to supporter prospects are engaged in an effective and documented moves management process
● Oversee donor database management and ensure accurate tracking of gifts and donor interactions
● Supervise department staff and oversee all private and government grant activities, including reporting and stewardship
● Oversee planning of fundraising and cultivation campaigns, inclusive of direct mail and online giving
● Analyze donor reports and prepare recommendations for management
● Oversee planning of fundraising and cultivation events (e.g., annual gala, pocketbook bingo, sleep out)
● Oversee cultivation of volunteer prospects and programs and develop strategies to expand community engagement across Union County
● Create volunteer opportunities, including those associated with sponsorships
● Ensure systems are in place to manage, train, supervise and celebrate volunteers
● Develop and implement a public relations and marketing strategy in collaboration with the CEO
● Serve as liaison for the production of fundraising collateral, newsletters, annual reports, and digital content (inclusive of social media and our website) to support donor engagement
● Strengthen ECHH’s brand visibility and reputation with donors, funders, partners and the broader community

Qualifications
● 3-5 years of progressive experience in nonprofit fundraising, including a demonstrable track record with major gifts, events and grants required
● Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree or certifications in development preferred.
● Proven success in donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
● Strong leadership and team management experience
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills; public speaking experience preferred
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and donor management software
● Proficiency with social media and digital platforms
● Own reliable vehicle and have a valid driver’s license
● Experience with Bonterra tech (formerly Network for Good) helpful
● Experience in the homelessness or affordable housing field is preferred. A commitment to our mission of ending homelessness in Union County is a must
Work Schedule
● Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed (both for ECHH events and for other appropriate networking/stewardship opportunities)
● Hybrid (remote) work is permitted, with a schedule and expectations to be developed with the CEO
Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
