St. Catherine Hospital is a HIMSS Stage VII designated facility in East Chicago, Indiana, one of a small number of hospitals in the country to have achieved that level of digital health record sophistication. The anesthesia department supports 28 operating rooms plus non-operating room anesthesia areas including 7 GI suites, cardiac catheterization labs, and interventional radiology. The department is seeking a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to join a collaborative, physician-led anesthesia team in a full-time permanent or 1099 contract capacity. Relocation assistance is available.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Evening, weekend, and holiday on-call rotation applies. When fully staffed, call is shared among three CRNAs on a rotating basis, with one weekend per month and weeknight call covering cases that extend beyond 3:30 p.m. or additional ORs running after hours. The facility makes an active effort not to schedule elective cases past 3:30 p.m. Schedules are set monthly.
Compensation
$135.00 to $150.00 per hour for permanent W-2 employment, commensurate with experience. $205.00 per hour for 1099 contract. Compensation is benchmarked against current MGMA guidelines and is negotiable based on experience and qualifications. A sign-on bonus is available and negotiable. Relocation reimbursement is available and negotiable.
What You'll Do
CRNAs perform and document pre-anesthetic assessments and evaluations, develop anesthesia care plans based on patient history and surgical requirements, and select, obtain, and administer anesthetic agents, adjuvant drugs, and fluids appropriate to each case. Airway and pulmonary management responsibilities include mask ventilation, endotracheal intubation, and mechanical ventilation as indicated. CRNAs facilitate emergence and recovery from anesthesia, administer post-anesthesia medications, and provide follow-up care evaluating patient response.
The daily case volume ranges from 2 to 10 cases depending on complexity, across a 28-OR facility with additional coverage in 7 GI suites, cath labs, and interventional radiology. Documentation is completed in Epic EMR with AI-assisted functionality, and CRNAs are expected to maintain compliance with HIMSS Stage VII digital documentation standards. The role includes collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff in a multidisciplinary team environment, adherence to hospital safety and infection control protocols, and participation in departmental meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
