JOB TITLE: Assistant Machine/Mill Operator

FSLA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT

DEPARTMENT: RAW PRODUCTION

REPORTS TO: PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

Position Overview

The ASSISTANT MACHINE/MILL OPERATOR is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the production line equipment. This role assists the Operator II with daily operations to meet the department's assigned production schedules. May provide supervisory responsibility in the absence of the Operator II. Attendance and personal accountability in this role are critical. Must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision.

Essential Functions:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

• Maintain assigned work areas at the highest possible sanitation level
• Operate and maintain the production line equipment in the absence of the Operator II
• Load and unload tandem trucks at elevators or storage sites.
• Learn and assist in the training of all employees assigned to the department daily, as well as Operator II responsibilities
• Monitor rolling stock and storage sites for accurate status of bins and grain handling equipment.
• Bag 25-to-50# bags of sunflower product continuously
• Skilled Forklift Operation
• Ensure all assigned paperwork is completed correctly daily
• Maintain a high level of personal and environmental safety
• Maintain and promote communication between all departments and management
• Performs all miscellaneous duties as assigned by the department supervisor or Operator II

• Working knowledge of equipment: Electronic Color Sorter, Gravities, Destoner, Electronic Scales, Package Filling Equipment, Sewing Machines, Computer
• Interpersonal effectiveness as a team player
• Forklift and Tandem Truck operation skills and experience
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and safety procedures
• Must perform tasks per Sunrich’s GMP Policies and Procedures and all Food and Safety Procedures

Minimum Qualifications:

• This position requires a High School Diploma/GED.
• Manufacturing/Food Industry environment experience and knowledge of GMP

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2+ years of related work experience in an ag/food manufacturing facility

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

This position involves lifting to 50 pounds on a frequent and consistent basis. Frequent lifting, bending, stooping, twisting, and repetitive arm usage. Climb stairs/ladders and stand for long periods of time. At times, working in areas that are not heated or air conditioned. Working in dusty conditions/grain dust.
