Job Overview
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Jr. Production Planner to join our manufacturing team. In this vital role, you will support the planning team in coordinating production schedules, managing work orders, and ensuring on-time delivery of aerospace components and assemblies. This role works directly within the Epicor ERP system to maintain accurate planning data, track material requirements, and communicate cross-functionally with engineering, procurement, and shop floor teams. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn aerospace manufacturing processes, and comfortable navigating ERP-driven workflows in a fast-paced, compliance-focused environment.
Duties
Production Scheduling & Planning
- Assist in developing and maintaining production schedules using Epicor ERP to support on-time delivery of aerospace parts and assemblies.
- Enter, update, and track work orders, job tickets, and routing information within Epicor.
- Monitor shop floor progress and escalate scheduling conflicts or capacity constraints to senior planners.
- Support MRP (Material Requirements Planning) runs and analyze output to identify shortages or excess inventory.
- Both in MRP and on the shop floor: Expedite work orders/operations that delay schedules, De-expedite work orders/operations on order push-outs and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
Material & Inventory Coordination
- Using the MRP system, establish the required quantities and availability of materials needed to meet backlog demands. Collaborate with procurement and stores teams to confirm material availability prior to releasing work orders.
- Maintain accurate bill of materials (BOM) and routing data in Epicor to ensure planning integrity.
- Support cycle count activities and inventory reconciliation efforts.
Cross-Functional Communication
- Attend daily production meetings and provide planning status updates to operations leadership.
- Interface with engineering on ECOs (Engineering Change Orders) to understand schedule and BOM impacts.
- Coordinate with quality assurance on non-conformance dispositions affecting production timelines.
- Communicate schedule changes and delivery risks to program management and customer-facing teams as needed.
Compliance & Documentation
- Support compliance with AS9100 quality management system requirements as they relate to production planning documentation.
- Maintain planning records, traveler packages, and job files in accordance with company and customer requirements.
- Assist in preparing data for DPAS-rated orders and government-priority production requirements.
Qualifications
Required
- Associate's degree or higher in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Technology, or a related field — OR 1–2 years of equivalent work experience in a manufacturing or planning environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data filtering).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic production environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- U.S. Person status required (U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident) due to ITAR/EAR compliance requirements.
Preferred
- Hands-on experience with Epicor ERP (any recent version) — including work order management, BOM maintenance, routing, and MRP.
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or highly regulated manufacturing (AS9100, NADCAP, FAA Part 21/145).
- Familiarity with MRP/MPS concepts, shop floor control, and production scheduling methodologies.
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- APICS CPIM certification (in progress or completed) is a plus.
- Experience reading engineering drawings, BOMs, and work instructions

Work Environment
This position splits time between an office setting co-located on or near an aerospace manufacturing floor, and on the shop floor physically interfacing with the parts and work orders. The role may require periodic visits to the production floor, where PPE (safety glasses, closed-toe shoes) is required. Standard schedule is Monday–Friday with occasional overtime as production demands dictate.
- Individual must be able to carry job boxes up to 25 lbs and know to ask for help in any situation where the job might exceed 25 lbs.
- Able to sit or stand for prolonged periods.
- Able to successfully pass vision screens.
