Superintendent - Semi Custom Home Builds (Milwaukee, WI)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead semi-custom home construction projects in the Milwaukee area. The Superintendent will manage day-to-day field operations, ensure on-time and on-budget delivery, maintain high quality and safety standards, and act as the primary on-site representative for the homebuilder. This role requires strong leadership, production-focused execution, technical knowledge of residential construction, and excellent communication with trades, suppliers, and homeowners.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily on-site construction activities for semi-custom homes from foundation through closeout, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to plans and specifications.

Manage and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and internal crews to maintain production schedules and jobsite efficiency.

Create, monitor, and adjust project schedules to meet milestones and delivery targets; proactively resolve scheduling conflicts and bottlenecks.

Conduct regular site inspections and quality control checks; identify and correct defects and ensure compliance with building codes, plans, and company standards.

Lead pre-construction and weekly job meetings with superintendents, trades, suppliers, and project managers; maintain clear, timely communication across all stakeholders.

Manage jobsite safety programs and enforce OSHA and company safety policies to maintain a safe working environment.

Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, daily reports, RFIs, change orders, punch lists, and as-built records.

Control field-related budget items by tracking labor, materials, and subcontractor performance; report variances and recommend corrective actions.

Serve as the primary on-site contact for homeowners during construction, providing outstanding customer service, setting expectations, and addressing concerns promptly.

Coordinate permitting, inspections, and approvals with local municipalities and third-party inspectors to ensure timely sign-offs.
Qualifications

5+ years of superintendent experience in residential construction, preferably with production and semi-custom homebuilders.

Proven track record managing multiple semi-custom or production homes through full construction cycles with high quality and on-schedule delivery.

Strong working knowledge of residential construction methods, building systems, materials, and local code requirements (Wisconsin/Milwaukee experience a plus).

Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.

Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage subcontractors, motivate crews, and maintain professional homeowner relationships.

Experience with scheduling, budget tracking, change orders, punch lists, and closeout processes.

Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Buildertrend, Procore) and standard office tools (MS Office).

Valid drivers license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel between job sites in the Milwaukee area.

Safety certifications preferred (OSHA 10/30 or equivalent); clean safety record.

Preferred: degree or certificate in Construction Management, Carpentry, or related field; prior roles titled Superintendent, Construction Manager, Project Manager, or Builder.
