Position Overview

La’Aurora is seeking passionate, knowledgeable, and inspiring Voice Coach & Artist Development Interns who want to help shape the next generation of vocal artists, musicians, performers, and creative leaders.

This internship goes beyond teaching vocal technique. Selected interns will mentor aspiring singers, rappers, spoken-word artists, and performers by helping them develop confidence, professionalism, stage presence, artistic identity, and career readiness.

Interns will work alongside experienced artists and nonprofit leaders while helping build one of the region’s most innovative youth arts programs.

What You’ll Do

As a Voice Coach & Artist Development Intern, you will:

• Coach youth in healthy vocal techniques, breath control, pitch, tone, rhythm, projection, and vocal performance.
• Mentor aspiring singers, rappers, spoken-word artists, and performers through one-on-one and group coaching.
• Help young artists discover and strengthen their unique artistic identity and creative voice.
• Guide participants in artist branding, image development, confidence building, and professional etiquette.
• Assist youth with songwriting, lyric development, performance preparation, and recording readiness.
• Prepare participants for concerts, showcases, competitions, auditions, and community performances.
• Collaborate with choreographers, producers, musicians, theater instructors, and media teams.
• Support rehearsals, workshops, and special events both virtually and in person.
• Provide constructive feedback while creating a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment.
• Inspire youth to pursue higher education, entrepreneurship, and careers in music, entertainment, and the creative industries.
• Contribute ideas for new workshops, performances, and community outreach initiatives.

Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Passionate about youth mentorship and community impact.
• Experienced in singing, vocal performance, rap, spoken word, choir, musical theater, or music education.
• Knowledgeable about vocal health and performance techniques.
• Comfortable coaching beginners through advanced performers.
• Creative, energetic, patient, and encouraging.
• A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Organized, dependable, and committed to professional growth.
• Excited to help build a growing nonprofit from the ground up.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a voice coach, music instructor, choir director, recording artist, performer, or vocal educator.
• Background in artist development, songwriting, music production, or performance coaching.
• Experience working with youth, schools, nonprofits, after-school programs, or community organizations.
• Familiarity with recording studios, live performance, or music industry practices.
• Knowledge of multiple musical genres including Hip-Hop, R&B, Gospel, Pop, Musical Theatre, Jazz, and Contemporary music.
