Our first cohort starts in September. You would build the electrical program from the ground floor.

The job

• Build and teach an 8 week, 320 hour pre apprenticeship program: safety, conduit bending, wire pulling, terminations, panel wiring, print reading, plus the data center specific skills local employers need.
• Train for more than technical skill. Our graduates are judged on accountability, reliability, and resourcefulness on site, and the program has to instill that.
• Set up the training shop: layout, equipment, materials.
• Set and hold the quality bar for who graduates. Design an intense program to produce the best junior electricians in Abilene.
• As the school grows, hire additional instructors and help decide how we scale the program and team.

Requirements

• Master electrician, or journeyman with 10+ years including foreman or general foreman experience.
• Commercial or industrial work. Data center or mission critical experience is a plus.
• You have to love teaching. Working with students, mentoring, and guiding people in a critical stage of their careers is the crux of the role. If you are looking to simply get out of the field, this is NOT the right role for you.
• Comfort with a fast paced startup environment: plans change weekly, there is no existing playbook, and we expect you to figure things out and act without waiting for permission.
• Eagerness to use AI, in how our students learn and in your own daily work. You do not need a tech background, but you need to be curious rather than skeptical about new tools. We believe that AI can transform not only the way we operate as a company but also the way we teach.

Helpful but not required

• OSHA authorized outreach trainer. If not, we pay for the course or contract those sessions out.
• NCCER, IEC, ABC, JATC, or military instruction experience.
• Veterans and Dyess retirees encouraged to apply.

Compensation philosophy

Our compensation philosophy differs from the training industry standard: we want to match your base pay in the field, not pay less. In exchange, we expect excellence. This job is for someone who loves the craft and loves teaching it, and who holds a classroom to the same standard they held a jobsite.

Logistics

• Monday through Friday.
• Based in Abilene at our training facility.
• Start date: this summer, ahead of the September cohort.

Hiring process

Phone call, then a paid in-person teaching demo. Decision within a week of the demo.

Pay: $120,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
