Supplemental Healthcare is partnering with a school in Bronx, NY to hire Special Education Teachers for the 26/27 School Year. This role focuses on delivering specialized instruction to students with visual impairments and diverse learning needs, while supporting English language development.

Spanish-speaking candidates are strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, individualized instruction in English as a Second Language (ESL) within a special education setting
• Adapt curriculum to meet the needs of visually impaired students
• Utilize assistive technology and specialized instructional strategies
• Implement and support the Expanded Core Curriculum
• Develop and use tactile and alternative learning materials (e.g., Braille)
• Conduct and apply Functional Vision Assessments and Reading Medium Assessments
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary staff to support student achievement
• Support students’ orientation, mobility, and independent learning skills

Required Qualifications

• NY State Special Education Teacher Certification (required)
• Bachelor’s degree in English or related field from an accredited program
• Valid CPR certification
• Fingerprint clearance

• Functional Vision & Reading Medium Assessments

• Orientation and Mobility techniques
• Curriculum adaptation strategies

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual (Spanish-speaking preferred)
• Experience working with visually impaired or blind students
• Prior ESL teaching experience in a special education setting
