Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Director of Behavioral Services, the Behavioral Intervention Specialist (BIS) plays a vital role in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities by assessing and addressing their behavioral and mental health needs. Working collaboratively with the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT), the BIS is responsible for developing behavior support plans, conducting functional behavioral assessments, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality behavioral support across program sites.

Position Duties:

· Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) based on baseline and ongoing data collection.

· Develop and implement individualized Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) that promote positive behavior change.

· Provide individual and group counseling services as needed.

· Present psychotropic medication plans and restrictive behavior interventions to the Human Rights Committee for review and approval.

· Train and coach direct support staff and other team members in the proper implementation of BSPs.

· Monitor the effectiveness of behavioral interventions and adjust plans accordingly.

· Facilitate referrals for psychiatric evaluations, therapy, and other behavioral health services.

· Act as a liaison among IDT members, clinics, hospitals, psychiatrists, families, and other stakeholders to ensure coordinated care.

· Maintain required certifications and become certified in SCIP or PROMOTE behavior management techniques.

· Provide on-call behavioral support as assigned.

Requirements:

· Master’s degree in psychology or a related clinical/treatment field.

· Documented training in behavioral assessment and support plan development.

· Minimum of 5 years of direct experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).

· BCBA certification is a plus but not required.

· Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

· Ability to travel across multiple program locations in the Hudson Valley and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if necessary.

· Must be available for on-call coverage.

Pay: $93,600.00 per year
