THE INTERIM DIRECTOR OF COACHING ROLE

The Interim Director of Coaching (DOC) is responsible for oversight and guidance of the soccer related activities for an assigned set of age groups. The Director of Coaching main duties are to collaborate with all CMYSA staff and to focus on player retention and recruitment, oversee coaches, oversee player training and curriculum design, assist the tryout process and the selection of teams, and determine the correct league and tournament placement for these age groups.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

As the DOC for CMYSA your day to day will include:

• Determine teams and provide teams to the Board for Communication
• Collaborate with all CMYSA staff, including on matters relating to Financials, Rentals, Fields, lining and goals, Community Outreach, documentation of coaching requirements (e.g. SafeSport, Concussion Training), hiring trainers and coaches for the Rec Program, curriculum for the Rec Program, Referee recruitment and training, marketing, the MYSA State Tournament
• Communication with parents around club operations
• Make call and communicate on weather for all club activities
• Conduct Coaches meeting and Team meeting for all teams in your age group
• Directly supervise Coaches/Managers
• Find/Approve Goalkeeper trainers for all age groups
• Create Curriculum for Teams
• Attend and Coach winter training for all teams
• Create weekly winter homework with technical, tactical, physical at home exercises for players in all age groups
• Find coaches for all teams and determine stipends
• Player recruitment and retention
• Coaching education: offer 4 yearly coaching education offerings for all coaches
• Organize and attend additional opportunities for players outside of team training (open play)
• Communicate information on programs, CMYSA policies, and general information relating to CMYSA activities and team organization to team coaches and Travel membership as necessary
• Provide monthly reports to the CMYSA Board of the state of the travel program.
• Attends Annual Meeting

WHAT YOU BRING

• Prior soccer coaching experience (at least 3 years as a head coach)
• Has a minimum of a C level coaching license from USSoccer or equivalent.
• Experience in sports management.
• Has worked or played for a youth soccer club.
• Experience working with multiple age groups from small child to adult.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills that includes the ability to communicate with for example coaches, players, parents, vendors, and other community organizations.
• Management, organizational, and leadership skills are a must.
• Proactive self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to be creative and improve programs
• Ability to work independently and complete tasks on a schedule
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings at minimum 20 hour/week.
• Comfortable working with a computer for both communication and document management.
• Must be able to pass a detailed personal background check.

PREFERRED

• Proven commitment and passion for the development of youth through sports
• Previous people management experience is a plus.
• Experience in development of a curriculum, sports training or otherwise.

COMPENSATION
