About the Role:

We are seeking a Senior Tax Advisor with a strong background in preparation of business tax returns and a proven ability to analyze and interpret varying levels of client-provided bookkeeping. You will play a key role in ensuring our business clients receive accurate, timely, and insightful tax services, especially in complex or unclear financial situations.

This position is ideal for a tax professional who thrives on problem-solving, independent thinking, and client communication, and who wants to grow with a reputable, client-focused firm in the heart of Houston.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review federal and state business tax returns (S-Corps, C-Corps, Partnerships, LLCs).
• Interpret and analyze client-provided financial records, ranging from clean books to disorganized or incomplete data.
• Identify tax-saving opportunities and provide proactive tax planning and advisory services.
• Communicate directly with clients to request missing information, clarify financial data, and discuss tax positions.
• Collaborate with internal team members, including staff accountants and junior advisors, to ensure accuracy and consistency in tax filings.
• Keep up to date on tax laws, regulations, and filing requirements for business entities.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in tax preparation with a focus on business returns.
• CPA or EA certification obtained or in the process of getting either within the next 12 months.
• Advanced understanding of QuickBooks, Excel, and tax software (e.g., Lacerte, UltraTax, or ProSeries), Lacerte Preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate unclear or incomplete bookkeeping with high attention to details.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to follow processes and procedures and internal documentation guidelines.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, client-facing environment, including expanded hours during tax season and extension deadlines.
