This position provides technical expertise, estimating support, and troubleshooting for transformer and field service testing projects. You’ll act as the link between field crews and customers, ensuring technically accurate proposals, efficient scheduling, and reliable support for testing and troubleshooting in real time. If you have hands-on experience in transformer and field service testing and want to combine it with customer service and project support, this is the role for you.
What You’ll Do:
Serve as the primary technical support contact for field teams and customers on transformer and field service testing projects
Review and validate estimates, schedules, reports and quotes for accuracy and completeness
Develop and implement strategies for managing technical data, including schematics, specifications, equipment records, and maintenance histories
Attend pre-construction meetings when the Operations Manager is unavailable
Review and validate estimates, schedules, and quotes for accuracy and completeness
Generate detailed proposals and quotes using RMS Energy formats
Respond to high volumes of customer and field calls, providing technical guidance and troubleshooting support
Review, analyze, and validate electrical test reports (TTR, megger/IR, winding resistance, power factor, hi-pot,) before release
Troubleshoot field issues such as transformer leaks or resistance anomalies, recommending corrective actions
Collaborate with supervisors to plan and schedule upcoming work
Maintain strong knowledge of industry-standard processors and equipment (Varen, Cysco, Stark, Interback)
Apply expertise with transformers from major OEMs (Siemens, GE Prolec, Hitachi, HICO, Orhusa)
Support business development by ensuring technical accuracy in proposals and client communications
The Experience We’re Looking For:
5+ years of hands-on transformer and breaker testing experience (e.g., TTR, insulation resistance, winding resistance, power factor)
Proven ability to interpret/validate test reports and identify field issues
Experience in preparing accurate estimates, proposals, and project quotes
Comfortable supporting high volumes of technical calls and troubleshooting under time constraints
Familiarity with major transformer OEMs and testing platforms/equipment
Strong customer focus with exceptional communication and presentation skills
Additional Requirements:
Willingness to travel up to 10% throughout the U.S.
Must pass background check and pre-employment/random drug tests
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Ability to work in an office setting with occasional travel to job sites
Physically capable of sitting, standing, and performing light tasks with occasional lifting up to 20–50 lbs
Bonus Points for:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering/Technology or related field preferred
NETA Level II certification (or higher) preferred
Knowledge of breaker testing procedures and electrical field work is preferred
Direct troubleshooting experience on transformer or breaker anomalies in the field
Prior customer-facing experience in a technical support or estimating role
Experience with proposal writing and RMS Energy formats
