We are looking for a Medical Assistant / Patient Care Coordinator to support patient care and clinic operations at our Sarasota clinic. This is a blended clinical and administrative role for someone who is organized, dependable, patient-focused, and comfortable supporting both providers and front desk operations in a fast-paced medical environment.
The MA/PCC plays an important role in preparing patients for visits, assisting providers during exams and procedures, maintaining accurate documentation, supporting scheduling and patient communication, and helping keep the clinic running smoothly from check-in through check-out.
This position will be primarily based in Sarasota. Travel is expected to be limited and may include initial training in Sarasota and occasional coverage at other clinic locations when staff are out or business needs arise.
What You’ll Do - Clinical Support
- Prepare patients for exams, treatments, and procedures
- Obtain and document vitals, medical history, and chief complaints
- Assist providers during examinations and in-office procedures
- Provide support during fluoroscopy-guided interventions, as applicable
- Perform venipuncture and specimen collection, as needed
- Prepare and maintain exam rooms, procedure rooms, and sterile fields
- Ensure proper handling and documentation of specimens and imaging protocols
- Support radiation safety protocols when assisting with C-Arm procedures, as applicable
- Communicate patient updates and workflow needs to providers and clinic leadership
- Help ensure patients feel informed, supported, and comfortable throughout their visit
Patient Care Coordinator Support
- Greet patients and provide a warm, professional experience at check-in and check-out
- Answer phones, respond to patient questions, and route calls appropriately
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments
- Support patient intake, registration, and required paperwork
- Verify and update patient demographics, contact information, and insurance details
- Assist with collecting and scanning required documentation into the EHR
- Monitor the schedule and help keep patient flow moving throughout the day
- Communicate with clinical staff regarding arrivals, delays, patient needs, and schedule changes
- Support referrals, authorizations, and follow-up items as directed
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality when handling patient information
Operational Excellence
- Support patient flow to help meet productivity and scheduling goals
- Document accurately and timely in the EHR
- Keep exam rooms, treatment areas, procedure rooms, and front desk areas stocked and organized
- Follow OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and clinic safety standards
- Assist with inventory management and supply ordering
- Help identify workflow issues and communicate needs timely
- Step in where needed to support daily clinic operations
Team Collaboration
- Partner with providers, clinical team members, and administrative staff to keep care running smoothly
- Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, providers, and team members
- Support a culture of accountability, patient-centered care, and professionalism
- Adapt to clinic needs and support both front and back office responsibilities
- Travel to other clinic locations only as needed for training or staff coverage
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a Medical Assistant training program
- 1+ year of clinical experience
- Experience in a patient-facing healthcare environment
- Proficiency with EHR systems
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Strong communication, organization, and follow-through
- Ability to multitask and shift priorities in a fast-paced clinic setting
- Ability to support both clinical and administrative responsibilities
- Professional, dependable, and patient-focused approach
Preferred Qualifications
- CMA, RMA, or CCMA certification
- Experience in pain management, orthopedics, chiropractic, personal injury, or procedural-based specialties
- Experience assisting with C-Arm or fluoroscopy procedures
- Phlebotomy experience and venipuncture competency
- Familiarity with sterile technique and procedure room setup
- Front desk, scheduling, insurance verification, or patient coordination experience
- Experience with eClinicalWorks or similar EHR systems
Work Environment
This role is based primarily at the Sarasota clinic and supports daily clinical operations, patient care, provider workflow, and front desk coordination. The position may involve standing for extended periods, assisting with patient positioning, preparing rooms, answering phones, scheduling patients, and supporting procedures as needed.
Initial training may take place in Sarasota. Occasional travel to another clinic may be required to help cover staff absences or business needs, but this is not intended to be a regular float role.
