The Credential Analyst, under the general supervision of the Dean of the School of Education, is responsible for providing candidates with information and guidance about credentialing requirements and to ensure that the University follows the laws, rules, and regulations of the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) for the teacher credential program. The Credential Analyst performs complex and specialized technical assignments to assure a broad range of credentialing functions that include reviewing, analyzing, evaluating, and recommending applications for public school teaching credentials. The Credential Analyst serves as a resource to provide current information to students, staff, and faculty on matters regarding State credential requirements and University policies and procedures. In coordination with the Dean and Program Directors, this position provides academic advising to student candidates in the School of Education, oversees the implementation of processes and procedures for recommending California teacher credentials for candidates, and reports data related to credentials at a state and federal level. Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals.
1. Develops and maintains knowledge of:
a. CTC regulations, procedures, and requirements
b. Requirements for credential and master’s programs
c. Laws, rules, and regulations related to teacher education and the granting of credentials for public school service in CA.
d. Simpson’s Graduate Admissions, Registrar, and Financial Aid procedures, policies, and academic requirements relating to the School of Education’s programs.
e. School of Education’s course offerings, course sequencing, policies and procedures related to the academic advising of candidates.
2. Academic evaluation, analysis, and recommendation for candidates enrolled, completing, or seeking admission to credential and master’s programs. These evaluations and analysis may include:
a. Evaluation and recommendation of Simpson candidate’s credential applications
b. Evaluation and review of candidate’s status within the credential programs
c. Evaluation of transcripts for candidates to determine coursework equivalencies and graduate level course transfers
d. Evaluate coursework for Basic Skills and Subject Matter requirements. Process 41-BSR forms for submission to the CTC.
3. Provides a high level of customer service to students. This customer service may include:
a. Information on credential requirements, procedures, and possible credential options
b. Information on and assistance with determining candidate qualifications for added authorizations
c. Enrollment verification and status letters needed for candidate employment
d. Academic Advising and information on course requirements
4. Responsible for Title II and ADS reporting on all credential programs.
5. Organization of database and collection of student records related to CTC accreditation requirements
6. Strives to continually build knowledge and skills related to the granting of credentials in CA. Includes attending annual CCAC conference and CTC workshops throughout the year as scheduled.
7. Oversees the School of Education’s Retention Project.
8. Oversees the Continuing Education Units (CEU) offered by the School of Education including the ongoing development of the Instant Enrollment process.
9. Oversees the scheduling of and enrollment into the School of Education’s Non-Degree courses. Provides support to enrolled Non-Degree students.
10. Support to the School of Education adjuncts.
11. Coordinate office supply purchasing.
12. Create, send, and collect invoices to school districts; submit payments to the finance office.
13. Submit payments of stipends to mentor teachers and peer support providers.
14. Track teacher candidates’ observations hours and clinical practice placements.
15. In conjunction with the Dean of Education: responsible for enrollment projections, course schedules, course catalog, delinquent students, and the SOE Portal.
Salary Range: $25-$27 hourly
