SHIFT LEAD BARISTA

We are looking for a part-time SHIFT LEAD barista to add to our coffee shop inside of our brand space. You must have a deep love for coffee and building a community. We hope to add someone who is passionate about the work that they do, is continuously learning, has a kind-hearted attitude, and enjoys being a part of a close-knit team- leading that team during their shifts as a lead barista.

As a shift lead barista, you will assist the General Manager in leading the team both directly, and by example. You will be expected to consistently make excellent drinks, keep wait times to a minimum, and ensure that everyone is doing their part to keep the cafe running smoothly and efficiently. You will interact with our community of customers, maintain positive interactions with our loyal or first time guests, and be able to troubleshoot or answer nuanced questions in the absence of the GM or Owner. As a member of our team, you will be expected to learn about the brands within our shop, successfully communicate our brand values to the customers, as well as uphold a high-level of respect, integrity, and safety of our team and community members, alike. We all work together to uphold the high standards and image of the brand.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Precisely dialing in the espressos, and adjusting settings as needed throughout each day.

- Making drinks with consistency, proficiency, and speed. Taking orders, running out drinks.

- Delegating tasks to the team to make sure the store and the bar are neat and organized.

- Help manage timing of breaks and clock outs for the staff to avoid violations.

- Educating staff on espresso drinks, matcha, and other specialty coffee drinks. Ensuring that each barista will make all of these drinks to the same standards.
- Opening or closing the coffee shop and cash register.
- Cleaning the cafe and community spaces throughout the shift.
- Aiding in helping customers in the store in both the coffee bar and retail area.
- Prepping all home made syrups and ingredients for the cafe.
- Leading the barista team during shifts ensuring all of the above are completed in a thoughtful way.
- Help give input to streamline systems and manage employee output.

Hours: 20 - 30
Pay: starts at $20-22/hr+ tips based on experience. (Total average hourly pay $30-35/ hr)

Experience is required for this job. You must have at least 2 years of barista experience at a third wave coffee shop in a shift lead role.
