THE ROLE
As Director of Paid Search, you’ll own the entire paid media
operation — strategy, execution, team development, and client outcomes. You’ll
lead a team of PPC managers and analysts, manage campaigns across Google Ads,
Microsoft Ads, and emerging platforms, and work hand-in-hand with our Client
Success and SEO teams to drive measurable revenue for our clients.
You’ll also play a central role in integrating AI tools into
how we analyze data, catch revenue leaks, and surface opportunities — both for
clients and internally. This is a leadership role with real ownership, real
accountability, and real upside.
WHAT YOU’LL OWN
Strategy & Performance
Team & Department
— Set paid search strategy across all client accounts
— Local service area targeting, seasonality, and budget pacing for home service contractors
— Drive ROAS, cost-per-lead, and booking rate targets; not just clicks and impressions
— Architect account structures, bidding frameworks, and conversion tracking standards used across every client
— Lead quarterly growth plans and budget forecasts tied to real business outcomes
— Partner with SEO to identify GSC × Google Ads keyword arbitrage opportunities
— Build and own the PPC department — hiring, training, playbooks, and performance standards
— Develop a training program so every team member can execute independently at a high level
— Hold the team accountable to results with clear KPIs, regular reviews, and coaching
— Create the SOPs that make performance repeatable — not dependent on any one person
AI & AUTOMATION
Client & CS Partnership
— Lead the integration of AI tools into PPC analysis, reporting, and optimization workflows
— Partner with our internal dev team to build automations that surface revenue leaks and keyword opportunities proactively
— Identify where automation can increase speed and accuracy without sacrificing strategic judgment
— Stay ahead of Google’s AI-native features (PMax, Demand Gen, AI Max) and set the agency’s position on each
— Work closely with the Client Success team so PPC insights reach clients in a way they understand and act on
— Serve as the senior escalation point for PPC performance questions or concerns
— Deliver executive-level reporting that tells a story — not just a spreadsheet of numbers
— Surface upsell and expansion opportunities tied to proven performance wins
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Must-Haves
• 8+ years managing paid search campaigns, with meaningful time in an agency managing
multiple local service accounts simultaneously
• 3+ years of direct team leadership — you’ve hired, trained, and held people accountable
before
• Deep expertise in Google Ads (Search, PMax, LSA), Microsoft Ads, GA4, and GTM
• Proven track record of driving revenue growth for local or home service businesses —
not just brand awareness metrics
• Experience managing $5M+ in annual media spend across client portfolios
• You love data. You dig into it, you know what it means, and you know what to do with it
• Strong communicator — you can explain campaign performance to both a PPC analyst and a
plumbing company owner
• You’ve built or contributed to department infrastructure: SOPs, training programs,
performance frameworks
STRONG PLUSES
• Direct experience with home service contractors — HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing — and how their call-based conversion funnels work
• Familiarity with Local Services Ads (LSA) and Google Business Profile optimization
• Experience with AI tools for analysis, automation, or reporting enhancement
• Hands-on work with call tracking platforms (CallRail, ServiceTitan, or similar)
• Google Ads certifications
• Comfort working with attribution models and first-party data strategies

WHAT YOU'LL EARN
This role pays $105,000 to $150,000 per year. You'll be working 40 hours a week in a fully remote setup, with a clear step up from year-one PTO at 2 weeks to year-two PTO at 3 weeks.
You won't commute. You'll work remotely with a team that values fresh thinking, collaboration, and doing work that makes a real difference for clients and their communities.
