Group Executive Chef - The Garret Group | Boston, MA
About Us
The Garret Group is an independent hospitality company behind some of the Northeast’s most exciting restaurant concepts, including Rocco’s Sports & Recreation, a modern, design-forward sports bar redefining game day, and Borrachito Taqueria & Spirits, a vibrant Mexican-inspired restaurant and cocktail destination.
Today we operate restaurants in Boston, New York City, and West Palm Beach, with ambitious plans to continue growing our portfolio.
We’re looking for a Group Executive Chef who wants to help build the next generation of hospitality brands—not just run a single kitchen.
The Opportunity
This is a hybrid leadership role combining hands-on kitchen leadership with corporate culinary oversight.
Based in Boston, you’ll serve as the culinary leader for our two Boston restaurants while overseeing the food program across our restaurants in New York City and West Palm Beach.
You’ll spend time on the line and expediting during key services, while also developing menus, coaching culinary leaders, improving profitability, and building systems that allow our restaurants to scale.
If you’re passionate about creating food people crave, coaching great teams, and building restaurant brands—not just executing recipes—we’d love to meet you.
What You’ll Do
Lead Our Boston Operations
Oversee all culinary operations for Rocco’s Sports & Recreation Boston and Borrachito.
Lead kitchen teams during service, including expediting and hands-on support when needed.
Develop Executive Chefs, CDCs, Sous Chefs and Kitchen Managers.
Ensure consistency in execution, hospitality, cleanliness and organization.
Lead Culinary Across The Garret Group
Direct the culinary vision for all company concepts.
Coach and mentor the Culinary Directors/Chefs de Cuisine in New York and West Palm Beach.
Conduct regular restaurant visits to maintain standards and develop talent.
Build a collaborative culinary culture across all locations.
Menu Development & Innovation
Create seasonal menu updates and limited-time features.
Develop new dishes that drive guest excitement and increase food sales.
Continuously improve existing menu items through guest feedback and sales analysis.
Partner with ownership on concept evolution and future restaurant openings.
Financial Performance
Own food cost performance across every restaurant.
Analyze purchasing, waste, yields and recipe costing.
Engineer menus to improve profitability without sacrificing quality.
Partner with vendors to negotiate pricing and identify better products.
Systems & Training
Standardize recipes, prep procedures and plating guides.
Build training materials and culinary SOPs.
Lead new menu rollouts and recipe training across all locations.
Help create scalable systems for future restaurant growth.
What We’re Looking For
5+ years as an Executive Chef or multi-unit culinary leader.
Experience in high-volume restaurants ($4M+ annual sales preferred).
Strong leadership and coaching abilities.
Excellent understanding of food costing and menu engineering.
Passion for elevated casual dining and hospitality.
Comfortable balancing creativity with operational discipline.
Willingness to travel quarterly to New York City and West Palm Beach.
Experience with modern American, sports bar, Mexican, or chef-driven casual concepts is highly preferred.
Success in This Role
Within your first year, you’ll help us:
Increase food sales through stronger menus and innovation.
Improve food cost performance across all restaurants.
Build stronger culinary leadership teams in every market.
Standardize execution across all locations.
Launch successful seasonal menu updates.
Create systems that prepare The Garret Group for continued expansion.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $125,000–$145,000, based on experience.
Performance bonus tied to food cost, menu performance, and company goals.
Paid travel for company restaurant visits.
Health benefits.
Paid vacation.
Significant opportunity for career growth as our restaurant group expands.
If you’re excited by the idea of helping build one of the country’s next great independent hospitality groups—and want to leave your mark on multiple growing brands—we’d love to hear from you.
