About Us
Laser Industries, Inc. is an established, family-owned civil and site construction contractor serving Long Island, headquartered in Ridge, New York. We self-perform excavation, site work, utilities, and heavy civil construction across public and private projects. We've built our reputation on doing the work right, standing behind our commitments, and running disciplined, well-managed jobs. As we continue to grow, we're looking for a Project Manager who can own projects end to end and help set the standard for how we deliver.
The Role
As a Project Manager, you'll be responsible for the full lifecycle of assigned civil/site projects — from preconstruction handoff through closeout. You'll own the budget, schedule, quality, and safety on your jobs, and serve as the primary point of contact for Laser’s field superintendents, owners, engineers, subcontractors, and inspectors. This is a role for someone who is equally comfortable in the office and in the field, and who takes pride in bringing projects in on time and on budget.
Responsibilities
- Manage civil/site projects from contract award through final closeout, including budget, schedule, and scope
- Develop, maintain, and update project schedules; identify and resolve conflicts before they become delays
- Prepare, negotiate, and track change orders, RFIs, and submittals
- Buy out and manage subcontractors and material vendors; review scope, negotiate pricing, and enforce contract terms
- Track job costs against budget and report on project financial performance
- Serve as the primary liaison with owners, design professionals, municipalities, and inspecting agencies
- Coordinate with field superintendents and foremen to align production, manpower, and equipment with the schedule
- Ensure compliance with contract documents, permits, and applicable public works / prevailing wage requirements
- Manage procurement and logistics for materials, equipment, and long-lead items
- Lead project meetings and maintain clear, well-documented project records
- Uphold and reinforce jobsite safety standards and company policies
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent field experience
- 5+ years of project management experience in civil/site, heavy highway, or utility construction
- Working knowledge of site work scopes: earthwork, grading, drainage, utilities, and paving
- Proven ability to read and interpret civil drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Strong command of project scheduling, cost control, and change management
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
- Proficiency with construction management and scheduling software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Office
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to jobsites
- OSHA 30 certification (or willingness to obtain)
Preferred
- Experience with New York public works, municipal bidding, and prevailing wage compliance
- Familiarity with surety/bonding requirements and owner-controlled documentation
- Proficiency with AutoCAD / Civil 3D for reviewing and marking up civil drawings
- Experience in utilities such as Sewer, gas, electric, water
- Experience in railroad work
- PE license a plus
- Estimating experience a plus
