Job Overview

Looking for a temporary Program Associate available to work from July through December. The candidate will support the daily operations of all food distributions and assists management with receivables processing, inventory organization, and overall pantry maintenance. This role helps ensure efficient, safe, and welcoming food relief services for clients, volunteers, and community partners.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Support Food Relief Program management in all aspects of client-choice distributions, including stocking shelves, cleaning, client check-out, weighing bags, and volunteer training.
• Assist with preparation, organization, and execution of mobile pantry distributions.
• Prepare and coordinate Shelter Island distribution activities under the direction of management.
• Process and organize receivables, including community donations, purchased goods, Farm-to-Friend contributions, and Food Rescue donations.
• Collaborate with staff and volunteers to support special programming and seasonal initiatives, including Feed A Kid and Thanksgiving distributions.
• Maintain organizational safety standards and follow all food safety procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of all Food Relief storage areas, including pantry spaces, bathrooms, the van, and truck. Duties include sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, sanitizing surfaces, and removing trash as needed.
• Monitor and maintain Food Relief supplies, equipment, and storage systems. Provide excellent customer service to clients, volunteers, donors, and community partners.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in food service, warehouse operations, nonprofit programs, or related fields preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Required Certifications - to be completed after hire

• Sexual Harassment Prevention Training
• Long Island Cares Food Safety Certificate
• Long Island Cares Human Rights Certificate

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
• Ability to stand, bend, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods of time.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
