Pasteurizer (HTST Operator)
Springfield Creamery, makers of Nancy's Probiotic Foods is seeking a Pasteurizer. The successful candidate must possess a pasteurization license or have the ability to obtain a HTST license within 6 months of being hired, and Vat Pasteurization license within 12 moths of being hired. Management will work with qualified employees to obtain these licenses. The operator must be able to multitask, troubleshoot issues, handle high levels of stress, and conduct sanitation of the pasteurization equipment. The Pasteurizer is responsible for pasteurizing all milk products and meeting all federal, state, local, and Springfield Creamery requirements. This position monitors the operation of milk processing systems and equipment through observation of computer PLCS and graphs to ensure proper pasteurizing, homogenizing, mixing (batching) and cleaning of systems occurs and make adjustments and recordings as necessary. The pasteurizer must be cautious of all food safety risks and ensure all products produced in the plant meet Springfield Creamery’s definition of safe quality products.
This position will be scheduled for 3 consecutive 12 hr. shifts, 4:00pm - 4:00am, either Sunday - Tuesday, or Wednesday - Friday.
DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITES:
- Monitor, observe, and operate computers and graphs to control and direct flow of various milk products through pasteurizing, homogenizer and mixing process.
- Operate CIP and COP systems to clean processing equipment and keep records of process completed.
- Collect samples of product and complete required compositional testing to ensure all product meets customer and legal specifications.
- Washing and sanitizing milk tanks, lines and HTST systems with automated CIP equipment per PMO requirements: Monitoring, documenting and executing CIP processes for in-spec time, temperature, flow, function and chemical concentration. Efficiently coordinating washes to ensure that plant CIP downtime is minimized.
- Inspecting milk silos/tanks and lines for visible foreign material, CIP residue, or any physical conditional that would hinder the ability to produce safe quality food.
- Maintaining and monitoring legal chart documentation and trending systems regarding pasteurizing and CIP conditions per the PMO.
- Knowledgably troubleshoot plant CIP systems to ensure proper washes are performed before releasing tanks and lines to production.
- Communicating any food safety, product quality, or processing related issues with QA and plant management.
- Ensure all personal GMPs and PPE is are followed
- Documentation of all lot information for all batching ingredients and inventory of all products produced for a production day.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITES:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues when they arise
- Work with computer PLCs and recording charts
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and have a sense of urgency when needed
- Reliability – begin work on time and conform to work hours and schedule
- Able to work in a stressful and fast pace environment
- Knowledge of processing system and have mechanical experience
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 55 lbs and operator a barrel jack, forklift, and pallet jack
- Must be able to push/pull up to 75 lbs for mechanical connection requirements
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Prefer 1+ year experience in pasteurization, CIP, and/or sanitation
- Prefer HTST/Vat pasteurization license – may obtain license within 12 months
- Prefer High School Diploma or GED
COMPENSATION:
- From $27.00/hr or based on experience
