Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our finance team. In this vital role, you will manage the entire accounts receivable process, ensuring timely collection of outstanding invoices, accurate data entry, and effective client communication. Responsibilities

• Process and monitor incoming payments, ensuring accurate application to customer accounts using various accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, or PeopleSoft.
• Perform account reconciliations and analyze aging reports to identify overdue accounts requiring collection efforts.
• Manage collections accounts by contacting clients via phone or email, negotiating payment arrangements, and resolving billing discrepancies with professionalism and tact.
• Maintain detailed records of all transactions, adjustments, and correspondence in spreadsheets and billing software for audit readiness and reporting purposes.
• Collaborate with internal teams including accounts payable, customer service, and medical billing departments to resolve account issues efficiently.
• Assist in month-end closing activities by preparing journal entries related to receivables and reconciling accounts in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
• Support compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls by documenting processes and ensuring data accuracy within financial software.

Requirements

• Proven experience in accounting or finance roles with a focus on accounts receivable management, collections, or billing.
• Strong knowledge of accounting concepts such as debits & credits, journal entries, account reconciliation, and double entry bookkeeping.
• Proficiency with financial software including QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar systems; experience with billing software is highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to perform Excel data analysis using formulas and spreadsheets for account analysis and reporting.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-10 codes, or medical billing processes is a plus for healthcare-related roles.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients via phone etiquette and negotiation skills while maintaining professional customer service standards.
• Strong understanding of financial concepts such as revenue cycle management, accounts payable/receivable processes, and governmental or non-profit accounting practices.
• High level of accuracy in data entry (including 10 key typing), attention to detail, and organizational skills to handle multiple priorities efficiently.
