Key Job Accountabilities

• Perform water activity and moisture analysis on product samples using approved laboratory methods and equipment.
• Conduct microbiological testing on assigned products in accordance with established laboratory protocols.
• Perform environmental air testing across production and storage areas to monitor plant hygiene and air quality.
• Record test results on the QC Inspection Form accurately and within required timeframes.
• Prepare, log, and ship product and environmental samples sent to third-party laboratories.
• Enter third-party laboratory results into the QC Central Testing File.
• Report unusual results, deviations, and quality concerns to the FSQA Manager or designated QA representative.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment, ensuring equipment is properly cleaned and maintained.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education/Certifications/Licenses

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Work Experience

• Experience in food manufacturing and quality control preferred; training will be provided.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Ability to follow written laboratory methods and standard operating procedures accurately and consistently.
• Attention to detail sufficient to record, verify, and report analytical results without error.
• Basic computer skills required, including data entry into QC forms and spreadsheet files.
• Ability to recognize and promptly escalate out-of-specification or unusual results.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job as described in the Key Job Accountabilities:

• Requires standing and walking for extended periods while performing laboratory and plant testing, with sitting for data entry and recordkeeping.
• Requires bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, grasping, and fine hand manipulation to handle samples, glassware, and laboratory instruments.
• Requires the ability to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 30 lbs. regularly and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Requires the ability to see and hear, including the ability to read analytical instrument displays and distinguish visual product defects.
• Requires the ability to wear designated PPE, including hair net, beard net, gloves, and lab coat.

Additional Requirements

• Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in FTC’s mission, staff expectations, and standards of conduct.
• Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
• Must be able to work either of two shifts (approximately 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.) when required.
• Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background investigation, physical and drug-test as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
