An established FedEx Ground Independent Service Provider (ISP) operating in Missouri is hiring an experienced Operations Manager / Business Contact (BC) to lead day-to-day operations with a high degree of independence.
This posting is confidential to protect current business operations. The exact station location — within Missouri — will be disclosed to qualified candidates before any interview. Candidates must be willing to relocate to, or already reside within commuting distance of, the station location. This posting appears in multiple cities to reach the strongest candidates; the role itself is at a single Missouri station.
This is not a shift-supervisor job. Ownership is not on-site day to day — you will be the face of the company at the station, to our drivers, and to FedEx. You will run the operation, make daily decisions, and be accountable for results. If you have run a FedEx Ground contracted service area before — or you've been the #2 who actually ran things while someone else held the title — this role is built for you.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
Daily Operations
- Manage daily dispatch, route assignments, and coverage across all contracted service areas
- Monitor route progress throughout the day; coordinate rescues and load balancing in real time
- Ensure 100% route completion and same-day resolution of service exceptions
- Serve as the primary on-site decision-maker for all operational issues
FedEx Relationship & Scorecard
- Act as the authorized Business Contact with FedEx Ground station management
- Attend station meetings and maintain a professional working relationship with station leadership
- Own the weekly FedEx scorecard: service percentage, Picture Proof of Delivery (PPOD) compliance, customer star ratings, RYDE Ratio categories, and Code 27/85 prevention
- Communicate contract, volume, and service issues to ownership with recommendations
Driver Leadership
- Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, and train drivers
- Coach underperforming drivers; document and administer discipline consistent with company policy
- Manage attendance, time-off scheduling, and peak-season coverage planning
- Build a culture of accountability and team performance
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce DOT/FMCSA compliance: driver qualification files, medical cards, MVR reviews, hours of service
- Manage telematics and VEDR camera systems: review safety events, coach drivers, ensure zero tampering
- Oversee daily pre-trip/post-trip inspection compliance and end-of-shift vehicle protocols
- Lead accident/incident response, documentation, and reporting
Fleet & Assets
- Oversee vehicle maintenance scheduling, repairs, and vendor relationships
- Manage fuel card program compliance
- Control equipment inventory: scanners, tablets, uniforms, badges
Reporting to Ownership
- Provide a concise daily operations summary and a weekly performance report
- Flag problems early with proposed solutions — not surprises
- Manage within budget targets for labor, fuel, and maintenance
WHAT WE REQUIRE
- Willingness to relocate to, or current residence within commuting distance of, the station location in Missouri (disclosed before interview)
- 2+ years of FedEx Ground ISP/CSP operations experience (BC, AO, Operations Manager, or senior dispatcher who ran the operation) strongly preferred. Candidates with equivalent last-mile leadership (Amazon DSP, UPS, courier operations) will be considered
- Working knowledge of FedEx Ground scorecard metrics, MyGroundBiz, and station operations
- Working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA requirements for light/medium-duty delivery fleets
- Proven experience hiring, training, coaching, and terminating drivers
- Comfortable being the senior person on-site: you make the call, then keep ownership informed
- Strong written communication — daily reports, discipline documentation, FedEx correspondence
- Proficiency with scheduling/telematics tools and basic spreadsheets
- Valid driver's license with a clean MVR; able to pass background check and drug screen
- Able to work peak season (November–December) without restriction, including Saturdays
- Able to occasionally cover a route in an emergency (CDL not required)
WHAT SETS YOU APART
- Prior FedEx Ground ISP experience in the Midwest
- Experience managing operations for an absentee or remote owner
- Track record of improving a FedEx scorecard (bring numbers to the interview)
- Bilingual English/Spanish
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Base salary $53,021.51–$75,010.50 per year, depending on experience
- Performance bonus program tied to service metrics, safety, and team results
- Paid time off
- Company phone/tablet provided
- [OPTIONAL — decide before posting: relocation assistance available for the right candidate]
- Real authority and real autonomy — this is a run-the-business role, not a clipboard job
SCHEDULE
- Full-time, on-site
- Early morning start (station sort schedule); Monday–Saturday operation with rotating schedule
- Peak season (Nov–Dec) requires full availability
