As our national footprint continues to expand, we are seeking an Professional Engineer (P.E.) to support engineering operations, expand our licensure coverage, and provide technical leadership across our growing portfolio of projects.

Position Overview
The Professional Engineer (P.E.) will serve as a technical leader responsible for structural analysis, code compliance, engineering review, and Engineer of Record (EOR) responsibilities for aluminum deck, railing, and miscellaneous metal systems.
This role works closely with engineering, drafting, project management, production, and field teams to ensure projects are engineered accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable building codes and industry standards.
We are particularly interested in candidates who already maintain multiple active state P.E. licenses and are comfortable supporting projects across a broad geographic footprint.
What You'll Do
- Perform structural analysis and prepare engineering calculations for aluminum deck, railing, and miscellaneous metal systems.
- Review, approve and stamp engineering calculations, details, and supporting documentation.
- Ensure compliance with IBC, ASCE 7, ADA requirements, and local jurisdictional codes.
- Support projects across multiple states and jurisdictions.
- Develop and maintain engineering standards, design tools, calculation templates, and technical documentation, as well as assist with inhouse testing of existing and new concept SDR products.
- Collaborate with Drafting teams to ensure engineering intent is accurately reflected in construction documents.
- Work with Project Managers to resolve RFIs, field conditions, constructability issues, and technical challenges.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Engineers-in-Training (EITs).
- Support fabrication and installation teams with practical engineering solutions.
- Obtain and maintain additional state engineering licenses as part of SDR's national growth strategy.
- Participate in the continuous improvement of engineering processes, workflows, and quality standards.
Qualifications
Required
- Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in good standing.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5+ years of engineering experience.
- Strong understanding of structural analysis, load paths, and building code requirements.
- Experience reviewing engineering documents and calculations.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
- Multiple active state P.E. licenses.
- Experience with aluminum structures, guardrails, balconies, decks, stairs, canopies, or miscellaneous metals.
- Experience supporting multifamily, hospitality, student housing, or mixed-use construction projects.
- Familiarity with delegated design and specialty structural systems.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
