The Surgical Technology Program Director is responsible for the overall administration, leadership, and continuous improvement of the Surgical Technology Program. This position oversees program operations, curriculum, faculty management, accreditation compliance, student success, and clinical partnerships while ensuring alignment with institutional policies and industry standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of the Surgical Technology Program, including administration, planning, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
• Maintain programmatic accreditation and ensure compliance with applicable standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop, review, and update curriculum in alignment with current Surgical Technology industry standards and AST Core Curriculum guidelines.
• Recruit, interview, train, mentor, and evaluate Surgical Technology faculty.
• Conduct faculty meetings, classroom observations, and performance evaluations.
• Support faculty development and ensure instructors meet credentialing and professional requirements.
• Monitor student progress, retention, completion, and certification readiness.
• Provide academic advising and support to students as needed.
• Oversee clinical education experiences and maintain relationships with clinical affiliates.
• Review and recommend textbooks, equipment, instructional resources, and program materials.
• Collaborate with Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, Career Services, and other departments to support student success.
• Participate in professional organizations, advisory committees, accreditation activities, and campus initiatives.
• Ensure faculty and staff adhere to institutional policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Knowledge of Surgical Technology education, clinical practices, and accreditation requirements.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to mentor and support faculty members.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and healthcare professionals.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and educational technology.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent education and experience.
• Current certification as a Surgical Technologist through a nationally recognized credentialing organization accredited by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
• Minimum of three (3) years of current operating room experience performing duties in the scrub role.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience teaching Surgical Technology or related healthcare education preferred.
• Experience with program administration, accreditation, curriculum development, and faculty supervision preferred.
• Experience working in a postsecondary, proprietary, or career college environment preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Surgical Technology, Healthcare Education, Education, or related field preferred.
• Experience with accreditation processes and programmatic reviews.
• Experience developing clinical partnerships and advisory boards.
• Experience supervising faculty and managing academic programs.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
