Position Summary:

Performs screening and diagnostic mammography examinations, provide quality patient care and assessment. Performs accurate quality control processes as required by MQSA and ACR. Performs and evaluates quality examinations to assist the physician in diagnosis and treatment of the patient. Participates in quality assurance and continuing education. Maintains appropriate credentials related to clinical practice.

Position Accountabilities:

• Collects pertinent data about the patient and procedures to provide appropriate imaging services.
• Confirms patient identification and pregnancy status when appropriate.
• Performs screening and diagnostic mammography using professional judgment and discretion.
• Determines appropriate use of shielding devices or other accessory equipment.
• Administers first aid or provides life support in emergency situations.
• Monitors the patient’s physical and mental state during the procedure.
• Demonstrate complete working knowledge of all mammography equipment within the department.
• Operates imaging equipment/devices, performs accurate patient positioning, and calculates correct exposure factors.
• Documents patient data, procedures, and relevant information as determined by practice standards.
• Evaluates mammograms for technical image quality.
• Produces additional images as needed to provide appropriate outcome.
• Performs and documents quality assurance activities based on MQSA and ACR regulations.
• Provides health care services with respect for patient’s dignity and age-specific needs.
• Adheres to accepted standards, policies, and procedures adopted by the profession and regulated by law.
• Maintains patient confidentiality.
• Understands how to verify that all reports are in the EMR chart and completed.
• Performs proper charging in the EMR for examinations performed
• Practice infection control, prevents cross-contamination to patients and instruments.
• Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Job Specifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduate of Radiologic Technology program accredited by the American College of Radiology or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
• Registration by the ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
• 1 years experience in Mammo preferred

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

• Must be able to travel to other offices within the Kansas City metro
• Lifting, standing, bending, moving patients, supplies and equipment
• Exposure to radiation, bloodborne pathogens, body fluids, processing chemicals and airborne particles
