AGC / Garkenyon is seeking an experienced CAD Designer to support the transition of new product designs into production. This role focuses on developing detailed 3D models, manufacturing drawings, and production documentation for tooling and components.
The ideal candidate will have strong CAD expertise, experience working with molds and tooling, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally in a high mix / low volume manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for molds, tooling, and production components.
- Support design transfer of new product development projects into manufacturing by preparing accurate and production-ready design documentation.
- Ensure designs are manufacturable, incorporating feedback from production teams, machinists, and engineers.
- Develop and update tooling designs, layouts, and assemblies to meet project timelines and deliverables.
- Produce and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), routers, and manufacturing documentation.
- Generate and revise work instructions, process flow diagrams, and supporting production visuals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, production, quality) to ensure designs align with product requirements and specifications.
- Assist in continuous improvement initiatives by refining designs for efficiency, cost reduction, and ease of manufacturing.
- Support production floor activities by updating drawings, troubleshooting design-related issues, and implementing design changes.
- Ensure all drawings and models are compliant with GD&T, engineering standards, and customer specifications.
- Participate in design reviews with internal teams and customers as needed.
- Contribute to the setup and documentation of new tooling and equipment layouts.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in CAD software (Solidworks preferred).
- Experience with 3D modeling, technical drawings, and tooling design (composite or metal forming manufacturing environment preferred).
- Understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, molding, and assembly.
- Experience creating BOMs, routers, and production documentation.
- Extensive exprerience with GD&T and engineering drawing standards.
- Ability to interpret and work from “build-to-print” customer requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high mix / low volume production environment.
- Effective communication and ability to work cross-functionally
