Duties

• Process and verify all incoming invoices using various accounting software such as Workday, SAP, or Oracle Financials, ensuring adherence to company policies and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
• Reconcile accounts payable transactions through detailed account reconciliation procedures, including reviewing debits & credits and resolving discrepancies promptly.
• Prepare and review journal entries related to accounts payable activities, maintaining accuracy in the general ledger.
• Manage vendor setup, updates, and maintenance within systems like Paychex, ADP, or Ceridian to ensure seamless payments.
• Conduct thorough account reconciliations on a regular basis using Excel data analysis tools like VLOOKUP functions and formulas for efficient data management.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Human Resources for benefits administration and payroll management using systems such as UltiPro or Kronos.
• Support internal controls by assisting with SOX compliance audits and documentation processes.
• Assist with month-end closing activities by preparing reports on accounts payable status and providing analysis of outstanding liabilities.
• Maintain meticulous records of all transactions, supporting documentation, and audit trails for internal and external audits.

Skills

• Strong understanding of accounting concepts including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and general ledger accounting.
• Proficiency in financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar ERP systems.
• Experience with accounts payable processing, account reconciliation, and journal entries.
• Advanced Excel skills including formulas, VLOOKUP functions, data analysis techniques, and 10-key typing accuracy.
• Knowledge of payroll systems like ADP or Kronos combined with benefits administration experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with compliance standards such as SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) and GAAP ensures adherence to regulatory requirements.
• Ability to analyze financial data critically while maintaining high attention to detail in data entry tasks.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience working in public accounting or governmental accounting environments is advantageous but not required.
