Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Coder specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN). Duties

• Review and analyze medical records related to OBGYN services, including office visits, procedures, surgeries and hospital stays.
• Assign appropriate diagnosis codes using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems to accurately reflect patient conditions.
• Apply CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes to document procedures, surgeries, and treatments performed by healthcare providers.
• Utilize DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications to support hospital billing processes.
• Ensure all coding aligns with current medical billing standards and complies with federal regulations.
• Maintain thorough documentation of medical records and coding activities within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
• Collaborate with billing departments to resolve coding discrepancies and optimize reimbursement outcomes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in medical coding, particularly within an OBGYN setting or related specialty.
• Coding Certification CPC, CCS-P etc. with preference given to anyone that also has a specialty certification in OBGYN
• Strong knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding systems, and DRG classifications.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology specific to obstetrics and gynecology.
• Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for documentation and coding purposes.
• Knowledge of medical billing processes, including medical collection procedures.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex medical records accurately.
• Ability to work independently and in a team atmosphere
