Position Summary

We are seeking an Assembly Optimization Intern to support the improvement of assembly processes, workstation efficiency, and production performance. This internship offers hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, working alongside engineering and operations teams to analyze workflows, reduce waste, and improve productivity.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and interested in manufacturing, process improvement, industrial engineering, or operations management.

Key Responsibilities

• Observe and document current assembly processes and workflows.
• Conduct time studies and collect production data to identify inefficiencies.
• Assist in analyzing assembly line performance, cycle times, and bottlenecks.
• Support the development and implementation of process improvements to increase productivity and quality.
• Create and update work instructions, process documentation, and visual aids.
• Assist with workstation layout improvements and ergonomic assessments.
• Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with operators, supervisors, and engineers to identify opportunities for optimization.
• Track key performance metrics and prepare reports on improvement projects.
• Support efforts to reduce defects, rework, downtime, and material waste.

Qualifications

Required

• Currently pursuing a degree or have relevant experience in:
• Industrial Engineering
• Manufacturing Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering
• Operations Management
• Supply Chain Management
• Related technical field
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis.
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred

• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, or Six Sigma principles.
• Experience with process mapping, workflow analysis, or time studies.
• Knowledge of manufacturing or assembly operations.
• Experience with data visualization or reporting tools.
